Age: 16 (biologically)
Background Information: Wiki link!
Personality:
‣Rudeness: Shoka's most obvious personality trait is her tendency to mess with people. Oftentimes, she can go too far, such as point blank telling people they're dead and that's why they're in the RG, or just flat out calling players idiots for not picking up on the rules of the RG quick enough. Having become quite bored with the Reaper's Game has only exasperated this, as slow or uninteresting players bear the brunt of her blunt words.
‣Hesitance about life: Having won her own Reaper's Game back when she died, she chose to become a Reaper simply because she didn't see any reason not to. This implies she has little desire to go back to her life in the UG, the living world. Up until a certain point in the story, she displays a sort of apathetic view of living, just doing whatever she kind of needs to do to get by and keep existing, because there's not much else to do.
‣Gatto Nero and her direction in life: Shoka was directionless before moving to Shibuya and finding Gatto Nero. She just skated by, doing what she was told by the higher up Reapers and occasionally enjoying her time with Ayano and the others. But it was moving to Shibuya that caused her to become uncomfortable by her lack of definition of herself, and in gaining an interest in Gatto Nero, a clothing brand, she found a way to define who she was and style herself with her own voice. This, in turn, led to a slightly better outlook for her and a growing love of Shibuya for gifting her this opportunity.
‣Winner: Shoka can be a bit competitive and seems to be the type who enjoys playing games and upping her ability. She won her Reaper's Game when she first arrived in the RG, suggesting she has quite the knack for fighting and solving problems, and she's lived as a Reaper ever since (until being made a player again). Her love of playing FanGO shows this more, as she's clearly no stranger to playing games. Finally, when one of the team leaders attempts to fight Shoka, a feisty side of her is shown as she gladly accepts the challenge.
‣Friendship: After having her status as Reaper stripped from her and the impending doom of Shibuya lurking, she sets her priorities straight. She finally admits her love for the city, and shows her deep affection toward Rindo and the others. At a point, she states that she hadn't even thought about putting the label of "friendship" on her relationship with Ayano, or the other Reapers for that matter, and everything kind of fits into place for her as she realizes who the people she cares about most are and how much she needs to protect them. She isn't one to say it easily, as being wholly open and honest is difficult for her, but she makes it clear to those she loves how she feels about them. (Making friends is not easy for her in the first place, considering the wall she has up that comes out as rudeness, but those she does have mean a lot to her.)
‣Ayano and Rindo: They're the two most important people in her life. Shoka, despite her rude outer appearance, is quite loving on the inside. It embarrasses her, however. For example, she gave Susukichi the nickname Big Su, but cuts herself off often before she can fully say it without thinking, realizing the nickname would make others see her in a somewhat cuter light. One of the two most important people, however, is Ayano: a sort of older sister figure for her, she'd taken care of her ever since she first became a Reaper. She gained a deep attachment to her that's ultimately tested (and ends in Shoka losing her), and the stress is so clear in Shoka that the player has to repeatedly have conversations with her — and have them go well — so that she can be talked into accepting the fact that Ayano can't be saved. It's a massive hurdle for her to overcome and a sore spot for her, but Shoka is ultimately able to keep herself moving forward despite the pain. She loves Ayano with all her heart, and it isn't until she's about to lose her that she realizes the meaning in it. Secondly, Rindo is incredibly important to her. He's a friend she made through playing FanGO, and someone she greatly appreciates the company of. He's a safe presence for her and the only one of the group who could've ever talked her into accepting Ayano's inevitable death. She doesn't think much about putting labels to her relationships, and it's implied that her lack of desire to come back to life as her prize for winning the Reaper's Game means that her life was a sad or lonely one. She keeps very few friends and Rindo is someone she's genuinely been able to make a connection to.
‣Texting: Shoka is not amazing at expressing her feelings in person. She gets better at it and in times of genuinely overwhelming feelings, she expresses herself just fine. But she finds it much easier to speak with others through text, likely due to the lack of pressure or the need to put up walls like she does in person with her rude words. This is likely why she was able to form such a connection with Rindo, being completely free to speak with him through text and be a little more forthcoming than she normally is. She could be herself.
‣In general: Shoka can be the type of person who's difficult to get along with at first, but when her friendships develop and she finds it in herself to recognize what's important to her, she lightens up quite a bit and can be a very loyal companion.
Abilities & Inventory:
‣Topo the Adventurous pin. It's a pin that shoots a firey laser at the enemy, needing to recharge after use. It's the only pin she'll have on her.
‣Her cellphone. It's a smart phone with a black kitty (Mr. Mew specifically) case on it. Though, of course, it won't work here.
‣She has an ability in canon that allows her to warp in specific places in Shibuya to areas players can't reach themselves (only Reapers can). However, I'll be taking this ability away from her in Songerein, due to that not really having use outside of Shibuya and being a little OP to teleport places.
Suitability & Plans: I like the idea of her finding more friends to care about, and dreams being able to tell them things about her that she'd have difficulty voicing herself. It could create either awkward situations or situations where her friendships can grow further, or in new ways. She's not the type to share a whole lot, so it'd be a fun thing to play with that. I'm really looking forward to. It'll also be fun to play her coming to a new world and having to relearn the rules and basically treat it like learning the Reaper's Game the first time she entered. Considering she won her first Reaper's Game, she's good at adapting and learning the rules of how a place works and figuring out how to work within it to her advantage. So she'd be able to figure out Songerein relatively quickly.
